A 22-year-old man was transported to a hospital Thursday with gunshot injuries after an early morning shooting on the Baltimore-Washington Parkway, causing widespread traffic tie-ups and detours in the area. Officers were called out about 8:40 a.m. after a report of a shooting in the southbound lanes of the parkway at the Annapolis Road exit, said a spokesman for the Baltimore Police Department.
Upon arrival by the police, they found an injured man inside a car with multiple gunshots. He was quickly ushered into a local hospital for treatment. The authorities are yet to give an update on his condition.
All southbound lanes of I-295 and the access ramps from both ways on Interstate 95 were shut down due to the incident. Investigators searched the area for hours. The Baltimore Police worked with emergency responders to regulate traffic flow and maintain public safety. According to SkyTeam 11, all the lanes closed reopened before lunchtime.
The Maryland Transit Administration publicized some temporary detours on several of its Local Link bus routes, including 26, 69, and 73. These detours will be in place until 3 p.m. due to changes in traffic flow along Maryland Route 295.
Baltimore Police are still investigating, and as of now, they haven’t released any information about motives or even potential suspects involved in the case. The residents have been encouraged to be vigilant and report any details related to the shooting to the Baltimore Police.
