Towson Mass Shooting, One death and nine injuries occurred after a tragic incident was reported on Tuesday night in the Towson suburb of Baltimore. Baltimore County Police were alerted to a shooting around 7:15 p.m. at the 8500 block of Loch Raven Boulevard.
Upon arrival, authorities found a vehicle overturned and on fire near a funeral home. Police Chief Robert McCullough said that multiple gunshot victims were found in the area. Neighbors reported hearing over a dozen gunshots.
While the investigators could find bullet damage on the outside of the funeral home, they do not think that this is an attack on the facility. This is being considered a targeted attack by the authorities, who believe that the people involved knew each other.
Chief McCullough assured the residents of no current danger to the community and said that the case would be solved, deploying all possible resources toward this end. “This is not something we typically see in Baltimore County, and we are fully committed to finding answers,” McCullough declared at a news conference.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and Baltimore County Fire Department were on the scene to assist with the investigation. Officials have not disclosed the identities of the victims, the condition of the injured, or whether any suspects are in custody.
Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski said he was shocked by the violence, adding that such incidents rarely occur in the area. “This is a deeply unsettling event for our community. Our police and fire departments have our full support to ensure the investigation is thorough and justice is served,” Olszewski said.
Investigations are still ongoing as authorities try to put together the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.
