Vice President Kamala Harris’s reported intentions for a political comeback in light of significant Democratic Party setbacks in the 2024 election have been characterized as “delusions” by DNC fundraiser Lindy Li.
In an interview with America’s Newsroom, Li pointed out that the Democratic Party experienced losses in key swing states during the presidential race, attributing this to Harris’s purported inability to engage effectively with the electorate. “America has said, ‘We don’t want Kamala Harris. We don’t want failed border policies,'” Li said while summarizing his thoughts on the election result.
Her remarks were made as DNC Executive Board member Yvette Lewis publicly endorsed Harris, calling her a “phenomenal candidate” and expressing readiness to back her in any future political endeavor. Harris, who conceded the 2024 presidential race to President-elect Donald Trump, is reportedly considering a gubernatorial run in California in 2026 or another presidential campaign in 2028.
Li, however, has been critical of the direction of the Democratic Party, terming it “plagued by the stench of the loser” and out of touch with regular Americans. “We care about bread-and-butter issues: putting food on the table, strong borders, and good schools,” Li said, underlining the need for the Democrats to re-tune their messaging.
Meanwhile, Harris’s allies are urging patience. Some of them say that she should create a political entity so that she doesn’t lose contact with the people and the country as she determines her next course of action.
Following their defeat in 2024, the Democratic Party required a period of reflection. Individuals such as Adam Schiff remarked, “The entire Democratic Party is responsible for this loss.”
Currently, the party faces numerous challenges in reconciling internal divisions and reestablishing vital connections with voters on significant issues, as Harris seeks to advance her political aspirations. It remains uncertain whether Harris will be able to navigate these obstacles and make a successful return.
