For a very rare public outing, Wendy Williams went out on December 19, 2024, to witness her son Kevin Hunter Jr. graduate from Florida International University (FIU). The former talk show host, 60, was present at the graduation ceremony with her family in attendance, including her 93-year-old father, Thomas Williams Sr., and her sister, Wanda Finnie.
Williams arrived in a motorized scooter decorated with the motifs of luxury brands, donning a sparkly dress, and Chanel shoes, and sporting a large “W” necklace. She was overcome with emotions as her only son, 24, received his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from FIU’s Steven J. Green School of International and Public Affairs.
Kevin had taken semesters off from school in 2021 and 2022 to care for his mother with her health issues. Kevin started college at Barry University but transferred to FIU to complete his degree. Wendy could be seen wiping away tears during the ceremony as her son walked across the stage to accept his diploma.
This marks the second significant milestone within six months following her diagnosis of early-stage dementia in 2023. She expressed pride and happiness regarding Kevin’s accomplishment, despite her ongoing health challenges. The occasion coincides with Williams facing various legal and personal struggles. Earlier this year, her son voiced concerns about her well-being and criticized her former court-appointed guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, in the Lifetime documentary Where Is Wendy Williams?
The film shed light on her health struggles and the aftermath of her talk show’s cancellation in 2022. Williams displayed evident emotion and pride in public as she observed her son Kevin’s graduation.
