Autoplay Animations, Meta-owned WhatsApp is developing a new feature that would grant users greater control over the automatic playing of animated images, which include emojis, stickers, and GIFs. The new release will also offer more control options in terms of chat settings that will be very helpful for enhancing user experience.
According to WABetaInfo, the new feature will enable users to turn off autoplay for different animations from within the settings of the app itself. Developers thus intend this update to de-clutter by minimizing distractions and ensuring an increasingly personalized experience through chats and groups.
Users will now be able to control the animation of emojis, stickers, and GIFs. For instance, emojis will not move unless the user chooses to animate them. The same thing will happen with animated stickers and GIFs; they will not move or play unless a user decides to interact with them.
This update marks a significant shift from previous versions wherein users had minimal control over which content was animated automatically. Offering such specific options for each type of animation, the application is helping users become much more flexible with less unnecessary distraction.
The feature will be able to give a more refined and customized chat experience as users will now be able to choose when and where animations are shown. When the feature rolls out, users can easily handle their animation preferences through the app settings, which makes WhatsApp an even more user-friendly platform for those who do not like visual clutter.
This update follows WhatsApp’s further efforts to enhance personalization after the recent release of AR effects for the camera on iOS.
