Former Barstool Sports host Grace O’Malley has ignited a public discussion on employee compensation after appearing on This Past Weekend with Theo Von recently. There, O’Malley intimated that she is paid differently from her former co-host of the Plan Bri Uncut, Brianna “Chickenfry” LaPaglia. According to her, Barstool pays her a “decent” wage, but for LaPaglia, it pays much more.
Barstool founder Dave Portnoy addressed these claims in a TikTok video, outlining O’Malley’s contract details. According to Portnoy, O’Malley’s base salary was $175,000, and she received 70% of revenue from personal social media ads, which added $75,000 in 2024. “Total salary for last year, a quarter million, $250,000 to Grace,” Portnoy explained.
Portnoy also justified the pay gap on grounds of the more popular following of LaPaglia. He even contested O’Malley’s claims of not earning from the podcast tour; instead, the salaries of the two hosts are paid from the income of the tours.
O’Malley left Barstool in December and began working for Alex Cooper’s Unwell Network solo, doing things like a comedy tour. She seemed to keep the door open for reconciliation with LaPaglia, saying the relationship was just in a “rough patch.” Portnoy’s explanation opens the door to some insight into the compensation structure at Barstool. It rewards talent but also seems to open the door for further growth. This will probably smooth the debate, however.
