For the third time, Timothée Chalamet hosted and appeared on “Saturday Night Live,” taking over the iconic show. The Oscar nominee delivered a hilarious monologue about his inability to win awards and the modest facial hair he sports.
“This is my third time hosting SNL, but the first time hosting it with a little stache and a little goatee,” Chalamet joked, referencing a recent roast he received at the Golden Globes. As the camera zoomed in on his sparse stubble, he quipped, “Yeah, that’s 37 hairs right there.”
Chalamet even poked fun at the spate of award losses, hosting a joke montage of his crestfallen expressions as other people’s names were announced-for Gary Oldman and Mahershala Ali. At one point during the sketch, he rehearsed an acceptance speech only to be outdone by SNL player Kenan Thompson, who received the fake award.
For the musical segment, Chalamet demonstrated his love for Bob Dylan. Introduced by Adam Sandler, he sang some of Dylan’s lessor-known cuts: “Three Angels,” “Outlaw Blues,” and the lamentatory “Tomorrow is a Long Time.” When talking about his song choices with the host, Chalamet said, “[SNL is] either nice for letting me do this or incredibly mean, and this is all a big prank.”
The episode consisted of humor, self-deprecation, and musical talent, which established Chalamet as a versatile performer. Fans hailed his performance as one of the most memorable episodes of the season, showcasing his ability to shine both as a comedian and a musician.
