It is with utmost sorrow that the Buffalo community is mourning the death of Patrick J. Finnerty, a dedicated public servant and devoted family man. Born and raised in Buffalo, Patrick passed away on January 21, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and devotion.
Patrick was the adored husband of Pamela (Diana) Finnerty and a dedicated father to Molly, Katie, and Betsy (John) Visco. He is welcomed into eternal rest with his beloved brother, James (Kathleen) Finnerty. The family will truly miss his kind, wise spirit and wonderful gift for storytelling.
The testament was Patrick’s work career for commitment to public service. Patrick worked outstandingly with distinction in the United States Secret Service, traveled throughout the world, and finally retired as Special Agent in Charge. After retiring from the service, Patrick remained working for his community as Chief Investigator for the Erie County District Attorney’s Office.
Quick wit, neighborly spirit, and deep love for his family were characteristics that made Patrick a household name in his neighborhood. Patrick was also very fond of Buffalo sports, the University of Notre Dame, and the family dogs.
A private celebration of Patrick’s life will be held at the convenience of his family. Instead of flowers, contributions in Patrick’s memory can be made to Buffalo CARES Animal Rescue, 2565 Elmwood Ave., Kenmore, NY 14217.
All who knew him will continue to be inspired by Patrick’s life of love, service, and dedication. Sharing condolences may be done at www.AMIGONE.com.
