Rachael Kirkconnell finally spoke about her shocking breakup from former “Bachelor” star Matt James, admitting the split had emotionally affected her. On the “Call Her Daddy” podcast, Kirkconnell said that the split came “out of nowhere” while they were on a trip to Tokyo. She recalled feeling blindsided when James publicly announced the breakup just hours after ending things privately.
We were getting ready to board a flight, and my phone was blowing up with messages asking if it was true,” she said. “That’s how I found out he had posted about it.”
James, who had been dating Kirkconnell for four years, posted a prayerful post on Instagram confirming the breakup. Though Kirkconnell said she is still trying to process everything, she dismissed any hopes of reconciliation.
“No, we’re done,” she stated firmly when asked if they might get back together.
Although Kirkconnell does say that she was cheated on, she’s careful to avoid painting the situation as an infidelity situation. Rather, she is insinuating that there is a long-term struggle with accountability and communication in their relationship. “I think there were qualities in me that he worried about having in a wife,” she admitted.
Although she did not make an official social media post about the situation, Kirkconnell reassured her fans that she would share the details when she was ready. For now, she’s moving ahead “to protect her peace.”
