Indian PM Modi met Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly at the Lotte New York Palace Hotel for a key bilateral. In the meeting, PM Modi expressed his “deep concern” over the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and called up India’s commitment to the cause of the Palestinian people always.
India has been persistent in supporting the two-state solution in Palestine and recently committed $2.5 million to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) to support the Palestinian refugees in the year 2024-25.
Earlier this year, he held discussions with Nepali Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Kuwait Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah where he discussed strengthening relationships with key regional partners, discussions over mutual cooperation, and initiatives to further strengthen historical relations.
It included an address by PM Modi to a roundtable of high technology leaders at the MIT School of Engineering. Here, he described growth opportunities that India affords and opportunities for innovation. His visit constitutes part of Modi’s agenda, which he announced coupled with outlining many partnerships across sectors and he will also be speaking at the “Summit of the Future” during the UNGA later today.
