Image of women faking as police officer in Lahore

Lahore: On Sunday, the police took into custody a woman who was impersonating an assistant superintendent of police when she entered the office of the capital city police officer in a police uniform. The lady, belonging to DHA Phase 5, approached CCPO’s office claiming herself to be a senior officer. For a little while, security personnel allowed her entry due to her attire and appearance.

When she entered the premises, she demanded to meet the CCPO and insisted that he come out of his office. Her aggression started seeming suspicious from the side of security officers and became more apparent when they realized that she was wearing shoes that belonged to the police attire. So, that again called for closer observation.

As the lady was asked to produce identification documents or cards, she had none to prove her ASP claim. The police personnel realized here that she was falsely representing herself as an officer and called the Civil Lines police to the spot.

She has been taken into custody. A formal FIR was also filed against her for impersonation of a police officer. The police have yet to determine what her motive was for trying to gain access to the office of the CCPO.

This case also illustrates the requirement for comprehensive security and surveillance in identifying potential threats or impersonating personalities trying to breach secure areas. In this case, people are disguising themselves as authorities and practicing impressionability to obtain undeserved favors, hence raising grave security concerns.

That arrest should be a wake-up call to the law enforcement agencies and the public at large, never to joke with identities of people who claim to hold influential offices. This is still yet under investigations as many more details have come out concerning the woman and her reasons for doing so.
