Bushra Bibi, the wife of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, has been released from Adiala Jail after the Islamabad High Court (IHC) granted her bail in the Toshakhana 2.0 case. She had been in custody for nine months, following a 14-year sentence handed down in January 2024. However, the court suspended her sentence, leading to her eventual release.
Additional security was put in place at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi as the legal team of Bushra Bibi completed the formalities for her release. Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb had issued a three-day interim bail worth a surety bond of Rs 1 million.
At that time, the Federal Investigation Agency felt that no further probe was needed and allowed the court to release the accused on bail. Similarly, the court also stated that the state gift provisions are quite different in other countries too.
Bushra Bibi’s Bail: A temporary relief in the case of ongoing corruption in the state gifts’ misuse case; she and Imran Khan have been indicted and there are indictment proceedings against them to be taken this month.
High-profile political personalities have brought this case under much limelight, and legal action against it has been in discussion. The security issues had led to the postponement of the indictment and now its hearing has been rescheduled for October 26 at Islamabad Judicial Complex.
