Man united vs Liverpool
Liverpool ran riot over Manchester United in a Sunday Premier League thriller at Old Trafford, prevailing 3-0 to further strengthen their good form of the season under new manager Arne Slot.
Liverpool were flowing with attacking flair, and Mohamed Salah was at the front of the charge. He turned in an outstanding display to provide two assists and seal the result with a goal. Salah being involved in all three goals proved to be the difference as Manchester United struggled to get out of the heavy pressure the Reds used.
The first came early in the first half when Salah played in Cody Gakpo, who clinically finished off a chance that left United goalkeeper André Onana with no chance, giving Liverpool the lead. Salah continued to torment United’s defense, providing another assist, this time for Diogo Jota, who doubled Liverpool advantage before halftime.
At the start of the second half, Manchester United attempted to mount a comeback, but Liverpool’s defense was tough to breach. Salah finally sealed the result with a cool finish in the 75th minute after a United defensive error to seal it 3-0.
This defeat piles more questions on current Manchester United form under Erik ten Hag, who is apparently now under increased pressure, while United struggled to fashion clear-cut opportunities and were ultimately unable to break down the solid Liverpool defense.
While Liverpool, under Arne Slot, look in great fettle. The win not only boosts their confidence but sends a stern warning to the rest of the Premier League.
With the victory, Liverpool climb the table, while Manchester United will have to re-steel themselves as both fans and pundits close in.
