Recently, Australia cricket cricketer Glenn Maxwell shared an amusing incident involving a light-hearted misunderstanding with Indian cricket star Virat Kohli that prevented the Indian star from following him on Instagram. Maxwell spoke on the LiSTNR Sports podcast and said Kohli had blocked him over a light-hearted disagreement after a heated India-Australia Test series.
Max stated that after joining the Indian Premier League (IPL) Royal Challengers Bangalore, Kohli welcomed him nicely; however, Maxwell soon could not find Kohli’s Instagram profile. He believed it to be a technology issue but later found out Kohli had blocked him.
Incidents reported date back to their tour of India in the year 2017 occurred when Australia and the team were under huge amounts of tension during the tight Test match series. Here was the third test game which marked Kohli’s injuring himself by his shoulder, then Maxwell mimicked this and that act on the cricket ground that fueled heated rivalry between the two opposing teams. Kohli might have not appreciated that when Maxwell did it as that was a moment in his game when he proved the competitive spirit of making sure he wins in sports.
He said maybe it’s because of that on-field imitation,” Maxwell said with a chuckle. Kohli was frank and admitted, “Yeah, I got a bit annoyed and decided to block you.”.
Fortunately, the two have moved beyond that since the incident. Kohli, having unblocked Maxwell, became such a close friend in real life with Maxwell and is a part of their side RCB. This only goes on to prove that friendly rivalry can turn into respect on both ends.
