There was a lot of backlash to the post of British-American influencer Andrew Tate in regards to a Racist Comment about Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh‘s recent move to gift a fan from his latest concert. He is on tour with the 2024 India Tour. He warmed hearts, as he handed his jacket over to an emotional female at his Delhi concert. The visible gratitude of the fan and the emotional response of her husband added warmth to the occasion, and the video was viral on social media within no time.
But then things took a turn sour for Tate when he came with a controversial statement on X, formerly Twitter, which read, “Bet it stinks of curry.” The self-proclaimed controversialist, infamous for his opinions and sometimes offensive words, provoked an outcry at his post as the people responded with a string of criticism. A user reacted by saying, “Still smells better than sexual misconduct,” while another added, “Which is worse? A pedo or currified jacket?
This incident goes along with Tate’s contentious past. His controversial remarks on various issues and confrontations through social media have generated controversies for long. Very recently, Indian-American physician Kirti Patel crossed swords with Tate on social media after she remarked on his physique in which he had boasted of never dating “vaccinated women.” As a rebuttal, Tate sent several disparaging tweets about Patel’s body, increasing the clamor against his public behavior.
The last comments from Tate came during severe allegations against him, including sexual misconduct and underage trafficking. Though he still denies these charges and states that all encounters were consensual, the case can send him to prison for ten years if convicted.
As outrage builds over inflammatory comments and court cases against him, Tate is a polarizing figure but one that keeps focusing on the bigger issues: high-profile influencers’ accountability and social responsibility.
