Just what this world needs: more sexy. But People magazine has officially anointed John Krasinski 2024’s Sexiest Man Alive, a title unveiled Tuesday night on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. The 45-year-old star, best known for his turns in The Office and A Quiet Place, was visibly speechless, breaking into humor regarding the honor when he told People magazine, “I thought I was being punked”. That is not how I wake up in the morning and wonder if it’s going to be the day I’ll be called Sexiest Man Alive.
Krasinski joins an elite list of Hollywood heartthrobs, including recent honorees Patrick Dempsey (2023) and Chris Evans (2022). While there was a bit of conflicting news across social media, one fan searched to question whether he was relevant to the year, while others buzzed about the win for the “Jim Halpert” actor. Fans were praising People’s choice commentating on Krasinski’s charm and down-to-earth appeal.
His wife, actress Emily Blunt, doesn’t appear to be complaining about the news. The couple has been married for 14 years and has two daughters, Hazel and Violet. They reside in Brooklyn, where they attempt to keep a low profile from the bright lights of Hollywood. Blunt joked that she may “wallpaper the house” with the People cover.
Krasinski’s career spans across comedy to drama and action films. For his role as a CIA agent in Jack Ryan and for directing and acting in A Quiet Place, fans and critics alike have high praises for the actor. Off-screen, he is also a known filmmaker. He recently starred in and directed the family movie IF. Reliving the memories of his life with Blunt, Krasinski said: “It’s beautiful to grow and evolve together.”.
And, of course, along with this new title comes a joke: perhaps an added workload in the form of extra chores around the house. Krasinski jokes Blunt will make him “earn it” on the home front.
