It seems to be capturing the heart of fans with its finale of “Golden Bachelorette” finding her finally on the sun-kissed beaches of Bora Bora and choosing Chock Chapple, a 60-year-old insurance executive from Wichita, Kansas, as her soulmate. With weeks of heartfelt dates and emotional farewells, Joan’s journey has finally come to an end with a fairytale proposal leaving everyone captured by a unique love story.
After shortlisting the 24 top senior bachelors to just two final contenders- Chock and Guy Gansert, 66, an emergency medicine physician in Reno, Nevada, Joan made a nervous decision. “My heart belongs to someone else,” she told a tearful Guy, as he heard the news about her going home. The emotional statement was made worse by the rainstorm with the spectacular view that had taken a bittersweet edge for Guy.
Trial periods did not characterize Chock’s tenure on the show. A widower who lost his fiancée due to cancer, Chock proved to be one willing to share with Joan his love and loss story-which earned him Joan’s admiration and confidence. In the final episodes, he met Joan’s children and promised them that his only motive was to make their mother happy-an act that would later see the family get convinced.
She had proposed in a secluded Bora Bora, where Chock dropped down on one knee and demanded marriage with Joan. In return, she gave him her last rose and said, “Yes” to his question.
The two lovebirds have retreated to Kansas to gain some much-needed privacy and time for their newfound relationship. While not giving a date for the much-anticipated wedding, both of them have been bubbling with excitement and glee to start this new journey under one roof.
With its heartfelt moments and mature love story, the “Golden Bachelorette” has really made it possible for audiences to remember that love can truly bloom at any stage of life.
