As authorities and prosecutors detail a dizzying federal sex trafficking indictment centered on the Alexander Brothers-who are highly profiled in luxury real estate -it is alleged to show that the twin brothers and their elder brother had all been running a decades-long scheme of drugging sexual assault and exploitation for dozens of victims from Miami, New York.
Federal prosecutors say the brothers used their wealth and influence to lure victims under pretenses, often professional opportunities or romantic relationships. Victims were reportedly drugged and left incapacitated and unable to resist or even recall the assaults.
Manhattan U.S. Attorney Damian Williams said the alleged acts were “heinous” and spanned over a decade. “This conduct demonstrates a calculated abuse of power, privilege, and wealth,” Williams said at a press briefing.
Oren and Alon Alexander face additional sexual battery charges in Miami Beach tied to specific incidents. Both were denied bail after an initial hearing. The prosecutors declared them flight risks owing to their enormous wealth and various international connections.
Civil lawsuits have been filed against the Alexanders, too. Several women accused them of rape and sexual assault. Accusations describe the picture as a network of deception and coercion, using drugs like GHB, the so-called “date rape” drug.
These allegations have brought the empire of the Alexander brothers, who have brokered billions of dollars in luxury real estate deals, to its knees. Lawyers for Oren Alexander said that he and his brothers are innocent. “The evidence will exonerate him and his brothers,” they said.
The case has brought widespread outrage, as advocates praised the bravery of victims who came forward. “Justice must be served,” a statement from the law firm representing several victims reads.
The brothers will appear in court next Friday, with the focus likely still on whether they should be remanded and detained pending trial.
