An Amber Alert issued Friday night after three children went missing from Stoughton, Massachusetts, has been canceled after the children are safe and sound in Boston. The three victims, aged 8, 9, and 10 years, were allegedly taken by their mother, Ashley Vazquez, 29 years old, in what is seen as a case of parental kidnapping.
The children were found around 10:30 p.m. in the Jamaica Plain area of Boston, following the tracking of Vazquez’s vehicle by state police using geolocation technology. The Canton Police Department was the first to announce the children’s safe recovery. It remained unclear by press time whether Vazquez was in custody at the time of the discovery.
Much earlier in the evening, police in Stoughton reported that Vazquez had taken her children along with their packed possessions from their home. The authorities were concerned about the safety of the children and activated the Amber Alert. Initially, state police had reported the oldest child to be 11 years old; later, the police in Stoughton claimed that the child was 10 years old.
It spurred an active investigation at a residence associated with Vazquez, which NBC10 Boston reporters witnessed. Fortunately, the children are safe, and the alert has been called off, bringing relief to their families and the community. Authorities have yet to comment on other actions about Vazquez’s arrest.
