This week’s Apple rumor mill is abuzz with rumors of the long-speculated TV Set, upgrades to AirTag 2, iPhone 17 details, and developments for the Pro Display XDR.
Apple Television
Apple TV speculation has flared up anew following reports that Apple is “exploring” the concept. The set may find a place in an overall home product line, pending the success of the rumored “HomePad.” Analysts believe that if Apple’s home ecosystem does take off, then an Apple Television is sure to be on the radar. Meanwhile, it might find its way to the backburner aside from the Apple TV 4K box and the service from Apple TV+.
AirTag 2 Enhancements
According to reports, Apple is expected to release its AirTag 2 in mid-2025. This product will be backed by three major updates: extended range, new wireless chips, and enhanced privacy features. These improvements will also address stalking issues while perfecting the usability of the product. However, like the previous versions, AirTag will not become a revolutionary device, but it will present incremental improvements that are appreciated.
iPhone 17 Details
Analyst Jeff Pu revealed information on the iPhone 17 lineup, from a more complex aluminum design to an advanced A19 chip fabrication process to a smaller Dynamic Island for the Pro Max model, and even rumors of an ultra-thin 17 Air model that is said to be only 6mm in thickness. Questions do linger over the design specifics, but more detail should come as the release date for 2025 nears.
Pro Display XDR 2
According to display analyst Ross Young, the Pro Display XDR successor from Apple may come with quantum dot technology, just like the new M4 MacBook Pro. The next Mac Studio and Mac Pro are likely to drop in 2025. A new Pro Display XDR will therefore complement the lineup well.
