Bangladesh won the historic series by outclassing the West Indies by 27 runs in the second T20I, which was played at Arnos Vale Ground, St. Vincent. The tourists successfully defended a modest total of 130 with top-notch bowling performances.
Bangladesh, after deciding to bat first, struggled against the West Indies’ spinners. The team was reduced to 8 for 2 within three overs with the fall of Litton Das and Tanzid Tamim cheaply. Some stability came from Mehidy Hasan Miraz’s 26 off 25, and Shamim Hossain’s late blitz of 35 off 17 helped Bangladesh to a competitive 129 for 7.
The West Indies bowlers excelled, with Akeal Hosein delivering a spell of 1 for 16 in four overs, supported by Gudakesh Motie (2 for 25). Roston Chase and Alzarri Joseph also claimed key wickets.
The West Indies found it tough to build partnerships in response. Taskin Ahmed’s fiery opening spell sent the top order into disarray as he dismissed Brandon King and Andre Fletcher in the third over. Sheikh Mahedi added to the pressure by removing the dangerous Johnson Charles for 14 and dismissing Nicholas Pooran for just 5.
The hosts were constantly under the pressure of losing wickets at regular intervals. Rovman Powell’s side was not able to counter the disciplined bowling of Bangladesh and were bowled out for 102.
Taskin Ahmed led the attack with figures of 2 for 12, while Sheikh Mahedi chipped in with 2 for 24. Bangladesh sealed the three-match T20I series with one game to spare.
In other words, this win is a sign of Bangladesh’s strength as a team in international cricket and marks the interesting conclusion of the series.
