Brianna LaPaglia — who goes by “Chickenfry” to friends and family — spoke out further on her BFFs podcast, which she cohosts with Dave Portnoy and Josh Richards, after speaking out against country singer Zach Bryan for being emotionally abusive. LaPaglia’s comments came amid what she revealed was the first time speaking on the relationship since their breakup last Sunday, October 22.
LaPaglia, 25, said her year-long romance with Bryan, 29, has been marked by the turmoil of emotions. “The last year has been the hardest year of my life,” she said. “I’m scared even now because I don’t want to make him mad.” She said that “build you up, beat you down,” and then there were apologies, which often left her emotionally wrung out and cowering in fear.
LaPaglia also said that Bryan would sign NDAs with ex-lovers so they wouldn’t go public with their own stories. “He offered to settle with me for a lot of money not to discuss him,” LaPaglia said, adding that she turned the settlement offer down as well. “I’m not going to protect someone who hurt me,” she said on why she’s speaking out for others who may feel silenced by the same experiences.
Her comments come amid the latest social media backlash and a song from her co-hosts targeting Bryan, referencing past incidents with the singer. Representatives for Bryan have not been reached for comment.
LaPaglia’s accusations have set off a firestorm of debate online about emotional abuse and the stress that public figures endure in their relationships. She ended with a message to those who are going through similar hardships: “I stand in solidarity with you. Talk to somebody.”.
