Capcom conducted a special livestream event in which it announced several updates for some of its game franchises. Among them were the Onimusha series, Capcom Fighting Collection 2, and Monster Hunter Wilds.
Onimusha News
Capcom revealed the remaster of “Onimusha: Samurai’s Destiny” for PlayStation 4: back by popular demand after its original release in 2002 via PlayStation 2. Details on “Onimusha: Way of the Sword,” a new entry in the series, were also revealed, promising deep character development, historical settings in Edo period Kyoto, and enhanced sword-fighting mechanics. “Onimusha: Way of the Sword” is slated for release on PS5 in 2026.
Monster Hunter Wilds
The Monster Hunter Wilds showcase introduced new locales like the Iceshard Cliffs, new monsters including Hirabami, and returning favorites like Nerscylla and Gore Magala. The game also features extensive customization options for hunters. An upcoming Open Beta Test was highlighted, introducing advanced quests and online features. PC system requirements for “Monster Hunter Wilds” have also been lowered, now recommending a more accessible setup for players aiming for 1080p at 60 FPS with Frame Generation enabled, with storage requirements significantly reduced from 140 GB to 75 GB.
Capcom Fighting Collection 2
To be released on May 16 for PS4, this collection of eight fighting games comes with a host of updates, including rollback netcode to improve online gameplay. Titles include “Capcom vs. SNK Millennium Fight 2000 Pro” all the way through to “Project Justice,” meaning there will surely be something for every fighting game fan.
These announcements bring the fan base of Capcom’s rich gaming heritage closer and let new experiences shine in these well-cherished franchises. Capcom is further widening its influence in the gaming world because it is launching “Monster Hunter Wilds” on February 28, 2025, for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
