Actor Denzel Washington was recently confirmed to be a part of the much-awaited movie Black Panther 3, where he will feature in a role written for him by director Ryan Coogler. This comes after some updates from Denzel’s film tour for Gladiator II as he took time on his career and upcoming projects.
Washington said he is more discerning nowadays with the movies he accepts, especially now that he is nearing the end of this illustrious career. “At this point in my career, I’m only interested in working with the best,” Washington said. “I want to do things I haven’t done,” he added.
Apart from the role in Black Panther 3, Washington is also going to be seen portraying the historical general Hannibal in a war film produced by Netflix. The latter is directed by Antoine Fuqua. Washington also has Shakespeare’s Othello in his bag for which he will be essaying the role of the titular character at the age of 70 years. More to that, Washington declared that he is in talks with director Steve McQueen for another project as well.
His role in Black Panther 3, in this regard is significant. For factors that have been conflated with his impact on Chadwick Boseman’s final stages of career life, this film comes to be meaningful. This is considering that before he died in 2020, Boseman was quoted as saying thanks to Washington for financing his education to become an actor, thus leading to a legacy of mutual mentorship and respect between these two film stars.
Even though Marvel Studios hasn’t officially declared any Black Panther 3, viewers are already waiting for its sequel and are already raving over the back-to-back successes of the first two ventures. Washington would carry it along to be a part of something historical, so this cannot be anything less than a bonus.
