Directed by Honey Trehan and produced by Ronnie Screwvala, the film revolves around the life of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra, who exposed more than 25,000 illegal killings and cremations in the state of Punjab in the 1980s and 1990s.
The teaser opens by featuring Arjun Rampal’s character asking a potent question about Punjab’s terrible past, mentioning episodes like Operation Bluestar and the 1984 riots. Dosanjh depicts Khalra, whose tireless investigations into human rights violations led to his final tragic abduction, torture, and murder.
He tweeted the teaser, saying, “Full movie, no cuts” with the hashtag #ChallengeTheDarkness. The movie has been stuck with several delays and was allegedly requested to have 120 cuts as per the CBFC. This full movie, free of cuts, would be showcased around the world and prove to show the makers of the movie truly stand by its authenticity.
Arjun Rampal and Suvinder Vicky will be seen in major roles in the movie. This film has gone on to represent the sociopolitical scenario of Punjab in its militancy era, exhibiting its strength in a tale of men like Khalra.
Film buffs across the borders will surely welcome this film which is going to strike a great chord with Canada, the USA, and Britain’s Punjabi diaspora in particular. Basking in popularity for his skills in cinema as well as singing, Dosanjh was “thrilled by such an important story on the world silver screen”.
