The internet is buzzing with rumors of the new “Cabin Alone” film with Macaulay Culkin set to reprise his iconic role as Kevin McCallister, along with Catherine O’Hara set to make her return as his mother. A viral social media poster has teased fans at the idea that the duo would end up having to fend off a secluded cabin from the infamous villains Marv and Harry. Has there been any substance behind the rumored film
For now, Disney+ has released no word on any “Cabin Alone” movie. The viral poster is an image actually created by and posted on a Facebook page called YODA BBY ABY, most likely more of a work of fan fiction rather than any official word at all. Speculation aside, no word has been issued about trailers or official press releases, and Disney hasn’t given anyone the smallest hint of this project.
The unofficial poster tells a plot that has Kevin and his mother traveling to a remote cabin for a holiday only to meet notorious burglars Marv and Harry. This idea spread fast on social media, but it remains disconnected from any other production being prepared by Disney. As of the 2021 remake “Home Sweet Home Alone” by Disney, no sequels involving Culkin or O’Hara have been reported.
While fans may be holding their breath for a reunion, neither Culkin nor O’Hara has any series-style movies in the works for Disney+. However, activities that pay tribute to the original “Home Alone” series that made the actor so synonymous with his portrayal of Kevin McCallister will continue to keep Culkin in the spotlight.
For now, the “Cabin Alone” idea remains a fan fantasy. Disney hasn’t yet picked up on the momentum, but the poster’s popularity does show that nostalgia for “Home Alone” is strong and could one day inspire more projects.
