Dow University of Health Sciences has come out to debunk the claims that a paper on the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) was leaked. According to the sources, the information circulating on social media about the leaked paper was fake. The spokesperson of the university said publicly that there is no possibility of a paper leak and appealed to people to avoid spreading unverified rumors.
This year, around 167,077 candidates will scramble for over 18,000 available seats in medical and dental colleges throughout Pakistan. For the second consecutive year, the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council tasked Dow University with conducting the MDCAT in Sindh where nearly 38,700 candidates would take the test, of which 12,846 are from Karachi.
The test is being conducted for 858 seats in Karachi, out of which 746 are open merit and 112 are self-finance. Though the issue is being raised that some leakage can occur, Dow University has ensured tight security measures. However, medical organizations have issued warnings that possible malpractices are to be faced during examination procedures.
There will be examination centers at NED University and the Ojha campus of Dow University with a space capacity of over 12,000; similarly, there will also be such centers in other cities like Larkana, Sukkur, and Hyderabad.
The MDCAT exam will be conducted in provinces like Punjab and Peshawar from 10:00 AM to 1:30 PM and comprised of wide subjects that account for 200 questions. On the other hand, services on mobile phones as well as internet service will be banned within half kilometers of the examination centers due to security concerns.
