The famous religious scholar Dr. Zakir Naik has arrived in Islamabad for four weeks of stay in the country. According to Aftab Hashmi, director of his movement’s activities in Pakistan, Dr Naik would be giving talks publically in major cities like Islamabad, Karachi, and Lahore. He came to Pakistan for the promotion of religious dialogue and reflection.
Famous for his knowledge of comparative religion, prominent officials welcomed him at the new Islamabad Airport Dr. Naik warmly. Those who were present at the airport to receive him included the Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Program, Rana Mashhood, the Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Dr. Atta-ul-Rehman, and the Parliamentary Secretary for Religious Affairs, Shamsher Ali Mazari.
Through his visit, Dr. Naik is likely to conduct Friday prayers and delivering sermons over topics on religious unity, moral values, and peace as a catalyst in society. He is also likely to have sessions with high-ranking government officials and other key personalities furthering more discussions on religion within the country.
The Ministry of Religious Affairs has implemented extensive security measures for Dr. Naik’s upcoming engagements, including public events at several important venues throughout the country. His visit has sparked significant attention due to his enduring status as a prominent figure in Islamic preaching on a global scale. His visit is scheduled to conclude on October 28, 2024, signifying a pivotal time for religious dialogues in Pakistan.
