Authorities in New Jersey are looking into multiple mysterious drone sightings throughout the state, including by President-elect Donald Trump’s golf course in Bedminster. Sightings that have caused concern for residents and authorities have now prompted an FBI-led investigation involving local police and the Federal Aviation Administration.
Since November 18, reports of drone activity have surfaced in Morris, Somerset, and Sussex counties. Some have been seen flying in clusters and sometimes at night. As a result, the FAA has established temporary flight restrictions over locations like Picatinny Arsenal, a military facility, and Trump National Golf Club.
Governor Phil Murphy, and state, and federal officials have kept close dialogue in monitoring the situation. In the statement, Murphy says that there is no identified threat to safety but claims that authorities are conducting investigations for such unusual flights.
Residents of the locality have also described the odd behavior of drones. One resident in Morris County reported a video of drones over Black River Middle School in Chester. Drones allegedly blocked a medevac helicopter from landing at Raritan Valley Community College and were said to have delayed the transportation of medical services.
As the investigations continue, officials are asking members of the public to note any sightings or video recordings to help trace the sources and purposes of these unmanned aerial vehicles. Although the immediate threat has not yet been confirmed, the present activity has caused widespread concern and alarm over possible safety dangers. The FBI is trying to get the public on board to solve the riddle of these mysterious flying drones.
