Malayalam and Tamil film editor Nishad Yusuf was found dead in his apartment at Panampilly Nagar in Kochi early on Wednesday. Police found the body of the 43-year-old film editor early this morning, and initial reports suggest a possible suicide.
The FEFKA Directors’ Union has announced Yusuf’s death through a social media post that is filled with anguish. They described him as a revolutionary personality in Malayalam modern cinema. The FEFKA expressed deep condolences with their words saying that the “film world will not easily reconcile with his death.”
Yeston Yusuf has carried an excellent career with ample numbers of achievements and great films to his credit. He also received the Best Editor award in Kerala State Film Award in 2022. His most famous and appreciated films include the recently released Thallumaala, Unda, One, and Saudi Vellakka. But this editor has also a few films that are ready for release; Bazooka, one of them, happens to be a pan-Indian film starring Suriya, Bobby Deol, and Disha Patani.
Such news has made even regional cinema weep as Bollywood personalities have taken pain to comment on the loss of an articulate craftsman. A personal style and work ethic in film editing gave many in the Indian film business a reason to praise.
The movie fraternity has stood in support and condolence with the family, left behind by Yusuf’s wife and two children.
