Excited Spider-Man Universe fans have good reason to rejoice because Sony has now released the first images of Nicolas Cage as Spider-Noir. The Spider-Noir series is part of the much-anticipated lineup for Prime Video, which will introduce the viewers to a gritty, unique take on the well-loved Spider-Man universe, courtesy of Nicolas Cage and a faithful adaptation of the comic character into live-action.
From the newly-released set photos coming from TMZ, Cage can be seen in action as Spider-Noir doing an action-packed car chase, swinging from one building to the other indicating his roots in the Depression era. He has dressed up exactly like Spider-Man Noir in the animated Spider-Verse movies, which perfectly captured that moody black-and-white comic book aesthetic.
A new direction to Spider-Noir, this certainly looks different from other portrayals of Spider-Man, particularly the new identity that is being given to Cage as this created some interest regarding the character’s background and motivations. There were rumors that this is the Marvel version of Ben Reilly, but the show has not yet confirmed whose true identity this hero holds.
The buzz among fans for the Spider-Noir series has grown more powerful with Nicolas Cage’s newest venture into the world of television. Famed for voice talents in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Cage is expected to put on an intense performance with a multi-universe detective. Expected to bring upon a noir tone about the character, complete with his hard-boiled personality, and vintage styling, all that will bring about another different tone that fans imagine could be even black and white to pull off the feel of the era.
Sony’s Spider-Noir is a story unto itself, unlinked to the larger Spider-Man Universe. The series is already generating high expectations, and fans are eagerly waiting for a trailer to get more glimpses into Cage’s portrayal of this iconic, darkly twisted hero.
