Former Prime Minister Imran Khan has called for a meeting with PTI leader Omar Ayub to build a broader consensus on the proposed 26th constitutional amendment, which focuses on judicial reforms related to the appointment process for the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.
PTI Chairman Gohar Ali Khan stated during a press conference at the KP House in Islamabad that Imran Khan has directed the party to actively continue its engagements with JUI-F chief Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman, aiming to gain cross-party support for the constitutional changes. Imran Khan described the amendment as a “serious matter” that requires broad-based agreement among political stakeholders.
Earlier in the day, PTI’s senior leadership, including Gohar Ali Khan, met with Imran Khan at Adiala Jail to seek his approval on the draft of the constitutional amendment. This draft was previously approved by a special parliamentary committee on Friday, signaling PTI’s commitment to pushing for reforms in the judicial appointment process.
The demand for a meeting with Omar Ayub and continued dialogue with JUI-F is part of Imran Khan’s broader strategy to strengthen PTI’s position in Parliament. By seeking to engage with political allies and opponents alike, PTI aims to create a unified stance on judicial reforms, ensuring that the legislative changes reflect the collective will of the nation’s political landscape.
