Kapil Sharma, who gained fame for his famous comedy on The Great Indian Kapil Sharma Show, has risen to become the richest television personality in India with an estimated net worth of Rs 300 crore, surpassing even top actors such as Rupali Ganguly. Even though Sharma is a successful celebrity at present, his journey was not easy with financial losses and mental health battles.
In one of the episodes of the Feel It In Your Soul podcast, Kapil Sharma narrates entering Mumbai with Rs 1200 and then becoming familiar across India. He revealed how the courageous decision to turn into a producer in the film took a great financial knock. “I tried to make two films, practically wiped out my bank accounts, and pushed me into some depression,” he said.
Reflecting on this testing chapter, Kapil Sharma shared, “Mera dimaag kharab hogaya. Maine do filmein bana di,” which means, “I lost my mind and made two films.” In Punjabi also, he said that he had a misconception about film production being as simple as performing on the stage. However, his industry experience resulted in huge financial losses and emotional exhaustion for him.
At this time, Kapil’s wife, Ginni Chatrath, was his strength. According to him, she was a constant support and helped him emerge from depression and reawaken his interest in comedy. Ginni made him feel that he should give a new turn to his career with more concentration and determination.
It features Kapil returning today, along with The Great Indian Kapil Show, through acting work with actors he worked with again, such as Archana Puran Singh, Sunil Grover, and Kiku Sharda. Through such a journey of poverty and success, it teaches how to survive while rising to the top level in life.
