Krispy Kreme declared a special deal for Election Day on Tuesday, Nov. 5, with hopes of encouraging voter turnout through free Original Glazed doughnuts handed out at participating U.S. locations. “Participating in our democracy should be something to celebrate! So we’re excited to sweeten everyone’s day with free Original Glazed doughnuts on Election Day,” Krispy Kreme Global Chief Brand Officer Dave Skena stated.
Bonus: one doughnut per person, no purchase necessary; “I Voted” stickers, available to everyone while supplies last, will also be handed out at Krispy Kreme’s participating locations on Election Day; the chain is promoting its own “doughmocracy,” a tradition going back several election days aimed at further encouraging people to vote.
For voters, polls will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 5, although early voting is already open in many states. For those who want a tradition with Election Day, Krispy Kreme joins a group of brands offering some freebies to encourage voters, and customers are being asked to visit their local locations for the sweet reward.
Those who plan to celebrate Halloween can also enjoy Krispy Kreme’s current promotion: customers dressed in costumes will receive a free Original Glazed doughnut on Oct. 31.
