Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz has reacted to health rumors about her that came forth lately wherein she said that she was neither diagnosed with cancer nor had a parathyroid issue, and what treatment she was undergoing. While addressing party workers in London, Chief Minister Punjab said that this was high time to put all those narratives to rest.

“I do not have cancer. My medical issue is related to the parathyroid,” she said. Maryam revealed that her surgery was done in Switzerland last January because the required procedure is only available in the United States and Switzerland. She had annoyance over online debates asking her why she did not do her treatment in Pakistan, with her saying, “Typically, my treatment is done in Pakistan, but parathyroid surgery is not offered here.”

I was not brought up to ask for sympathy but when these rumors hound you, I am being compelled to clarify,” said Maryam.

Meanwhile, veteran actress Simi Raheel criticized the Punjab government for handling the worsening smog crisis in Lahore. She wrote on a viral Instagram story, “Lahore is dying, and no one’s doing anything to save it. Not everyone can afford a flight to London.” A jab at Maryam and her father, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif who were flying out to London.

Raheel’s comments have struck many a chord on social media because of the terrible air-quality rating in Lahore, which is currently listed to be in the worst globally. It stood second after Delhi on the Air Quality Index yesterday at 644. Other such cities are Multan, Islamabad, and Rawalpindi.
