Several persons were injured in an active shooter situation at a New Albany warehouse Tuesday night, authorities report.
The incident took place at KDC/One, a beauty, personal care, and home care products company, on Smiths Mill Road North. The law enforcement personnel of New Albany, Columbus, and Franklin County were quick to reach the location. At least two dozen police cars and ambulances could be seen at the scene.
Multiple victims have been rushed to local hospitals, according to reports from authorities. A Mount Carmel Hospital official said three individuals had been admitted, but he would not discuss their conditions.
The officials did not know the number of suspects involved and also did not know if the shooter was in custody. The residents are asked not to go near Smiths Mill Road North because the police continue their investigation there.
According to witnesses, employees are being taken out of the building as law enforcement officials try to take full control of the facility. The officers have sealed the warehouse and are in the process of following through on their conclusions.
Individuals with information about the incident can contact the New Albany Police Department at 614-855-1234. Authorities will be able to add more details as they continue to investigate.
