Norway Princess Martha
On Saturday, Norwegian Princess Martha Louise married an American, Durek Verrett-a self-proclaimed shaman-in a wedding that has quite set Norway abuzz. Both the princess and her husband engage in alternative therapies.
Divorced Princess Martha Louise, 52, claims to be clairvoyant- meaning she communicates with angels talent she has passed on and profited from through books and courses. American Verrett, 49, from California hails himself as a “sixth-generation shaman” selling pricey gold medallions he says save lives.
The two announced their engagement in June 2022. Martha Louise took to Instagram and said she was happy to have found a partner who accepts her for her spirituality.
The marriage was held in the beautiful village of Geiranger, which is located on Norway’s west coast. It was a very exclusive marriage under a white tent to keep off the press and public intrusions, and rights to take photos and videos were sold to a few selected media.
According to photographs published by the Norwegian press, Martha Louise wore, for the occasion, a traditional white wedding dress and a tiara given to her by her grandfather King Olav on her 18th birthday. Verrett wore for his part a black suit with gold cummerbund.
Present at the ceremony were 87-year-old King Harald and Crown Prince Haakon in dark-colored suits, while the rest of the family were in traditional Norwegian clothes called bunad, adorned with metallic embroidery and wool. The celebration was kick-started last Thursday with a welcome party thrown for the guests who numbered over 350.
Verrett has referred to the wedding as a vow renewal because he believes he was once a pharaoh and Martha Louise was his wife in a past life.
Amongst his followers are celebrities such as Gwyneth Paltrow and Antonio Banderas.
