A fatal head-on collision early Thursday morning took the life of a 31-year-old Odessa woman while seriously injuring another person.
The crash occurred at approximately 6:50 a.m. November 21 at the intersection of Interstate 20 North Service Road and Redondo Avenue, according to Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Sergeant Steven Blanco.
A 2013 Kia OLX, driven by Ariel Renee Garcia, 31, was traveling east on the service road when a 2014 GMC Sierra, driven by Roger Dale Bilbrey, 62, crossed the center stripe and hit her head-on.
Garcia was pronounced dead at the scene, while Bilbrey was taken to Medical Center Hospital in Odessa where remains serious. DPS released that both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the collision.
Local authorities are investigating the accident, and at the moment, are unsure as to what caused the car crash which has mourned the untimely death of Garcia in the community.
Efforts to console Garcia’s family are in motion as DPS reminds drivers to exercise caution and observe measures on the road to prevent a similar accident from happening.
