OpenAi ChatGPT Down, Users of ChatGPT all around the world have reportedly suffered connectivity issues today. Some complaints are appearing on a Down Detector, a website dedicated to tracking service outages. Many users who have been trying to access ChatGPT have been getting a message: “ChatGPT is currently unavailable. Status: Identified – We identified the issue and are working to roll out a fix.”‘
According to reports, OpenAI confirmed the outage by posting on X. The company said that they are down. They added that they “Identified the problem. Working to roll out the fix. Sorry for that, and we’ll update you!” The outage reason was undisclosed but the service was restored after more than four hours.
This outage comes amidst various disruptions earlier in the day across Meta’s platforms comprising Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp. The timing of these incidents has left many people joking about a “relay outage” on X. Fed-up users were sharing their frustration on social media, some posting memes about being “lost without ChatGPT.
The downtime coincides with the growing popularity of ChatGPT, as OpenAI CEO Sam Altman recently disclosed that the platform serves over 300 million weekly users. The company’s rapid rise has been powered by integrations with several devices and software, including the latest updates from Apple, specifically for iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
Even though it broke the world record, this is not the first service disruption of ChatGPT. A similar incident in June lasted for more than five hours.
For those touched by it, competitors like Google Gemini, Claude AI, and Microsoft Copilot offer similar functionality. OpenAI remains active to fill the demand especially, as recently with its new Sora video generator that has garnered massive interest following its release.
