Pakistan and Belarus have inked a three-year Roadmap for Bilateral Cooperation (2025-27) for economic, technological, and strategic ties. Among 15 MoUs signed during the visit of Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko, it is expected to solidify bilateral relations in multiple areas.
The roadmap, described as a “key outcome” by Pakistan’s government, sets up collaborative initiatives in e-commerce, vocational education, health, and halal trade. It also includes an emphasis on intelligence sharing concerning money laundering and terrorism financing, environmental cooperation, and disaster management.
In the joint press conference, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that these agreements need to be translated into actionable steps. “We have signed multiple MoUs, but we are committed to finalizing a concrete framework in the coming weeks,” said PM Sharif.
Bela President Lukashenko said Belarus is open to the transfer of technological know-how in areas such as electric vehicles, heavy-duty trucks, and agricultural machinery. It is also interested in Pakistani textile products and connectivity projects, like the North-South Corridor.
The Belarusian delegation went into high-level talks here, including meeting Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir. He appreciated Belarus’s effort for global peace and ensured stronger defense cooperation.
The visit attracted the international spotlight, as Belarus has uneasy ties with the West over the alliance with Russia. The diplomats reported that Lukashenko’s visit is Pakistan’s initiative to diversify foreign policy and create a relationship with Russia and its allies.
New deals will bring new prospects in the way of economic development and regional stability since the two countries will meet again next month in Minsk to complete further actions and agreements.
