Pakistan won their first ODI series in Australia nine years after an exciting third ODI match in Perth, where they defeated Australia by eight wickets. Captain Mohammad Rizwan’s tremendous bowling performance, led again from the front by Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah, ensured that Australia could manage only 140 runs.
Shaheen and Naseem displayed excellent fast bowling, with each of them picking three wickets, while Haris Rauf also did his job. The bowlers were brilliant in the process, maintaining their discipline and using Perth’s bouncy pitch to great effect in keeping the Australian batsmen on their back foot all through the innings.
Pakistan’s top order was pretty composed during the chase. Abdullah Shafique and Saim Ayub put in a perfect platform, while skipper Rizwan along with Babar Azam ensured that the team won the match in a pretty composed way.
“I must commend the boys for their sincerity and perseverance,” Rizwan said after the win. “The victory would have been impossible without the great support from the fans, to whom I dedicate this victory.”
Josh Inglis- the interim Australian captain, posted a frustrating comment on losing. He said that his team has struggled both with the bat and the ball.
That marked a great achievement for Pakistan, indicating that there was still good luck in store for the team ahead of the Champions Trophy.
