Paul McCartney made what is perhaps one of the more exciting New Year’s resolutions around for 2025: the completion of his next solo album. The legend in his own right and current at 82, this rock icon broke the news through his website, having finally revealed that he was composing several tracks while being compelled to stall production through his long-running Got Back Tour, which wrapped up its recent appearances in London this past month.
“I’ve been working on a lot of songs and had to put the album to the side because of the tour,” Paul McCartney wrote. “So, I’m hoping to get back into that and finish up a lot of these songs. My New Year resolves to finish a new album!”
Paul McCartney’s last solo album was McCartney III, which came out in 2020. It was similar to his self-titled debut album from 1970 and its 1980 follow-up, McCartney II. The album did very well with the fans, who were happy to see Paul McCartney return to his roots of home recording. He followed up with McCartney III Imagined in 2021, a remix album with a wide range of collaborators including Beck, Phoebe Bridgers, and St. Vincent.
Other than writing, he was an integral person in releasing the posthumous Beatles track “Now and Then” which was based on the John Lennon demo in 1977. The track was nominated for several Grammy Awards including one for the Record of the Year category.
As Christmas approaches, Paul McCartney is in the process of taking his deserved break after touring. According to him, Christmas is a family time, and he already has his decorations up at home. With a penchant for festive decorations, Paul McCartney said he intends to unwind and soak in the holiday spirit.
