Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that the current Pakistan supports with all its energy the people of Palestine, Gaza, and Lebanon while chairing a meeting to review relief assistance efforts to the respective regions. He called for giving generously to the Relief Fund set up to help people suffering at the hands of Israeli aggression.
3,000 tents and 12,000 blankets were to be added by the Prime Minister, as well as food supplies and medical aid were to be sent to alleviate the suffering in Palestine and Lebanon. He urged that relief items should be of good quality so they can be used immediately and that fire-proof tents be distributed.
He also instructed Pakistani ambassadors in neighboring countries to determine what the people needed from relief goods. Sharif expressed concern over Israel’s hindrances to relief supplies and thanked NGOs that were carrying out relief work in coordination with the government.
He also pleaded with overseas Pakistanis and the upscale sectors of society to join hands and take part in the relief work. Contributions may be deposited in the official relief fund account: IBAN PK 11SBPD0000001111114292 or Raast ID: 01111114292.
Since 8th October, various shipments of essential supplies like tents, blankets, and medical aids have been airlifted and dispatched by sea to Pakistan. Those Palestinian students arriving in Pakistan will also soon see educational arrangements being made for them.
High-ranking government officials, such as Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and other cabinet members, attended this meeting to discuss the measures underway to ensure the effective delivery of aid to all those affected in Palestine and Lebanon.
