Film producer Ramesh Taurani has finally confirmed the headliner of Saif Ali Khan for this much-awaited fourth version of the “Race” franchise. Indeed, this was one actor who had not made the confirmation public yet, but now it has set tongues wagging among fans who long to see this much-loved series back on the movie screen.
The production of “Race 4” is expected to begin in 2025, but no information regarding cast and crew members has been made public yet. As per Indian media, Saif is returning to the Race franchise. And we are excited to have him on board. He was good in the first two films. It’s an ensemble cast, and we are finalizing the script and cast.
The expectations for “Race 4” do not seem to decrease at all, especially with legacy, though. The initial “Race” film was way back in 2008 and starring Saif Ali Khan and Akshaye Khanna as two brothers wrapped up in deceit, love, and revenge. One can pretty much see that this riveting narrative compounded with high-octane action and intricate plot twists became so very liked by audiences that it paved the way for future sequels.
Sequel, dated 2013 had John Abraham in the antagonist role; also Saif Ali Khan repeated his role from the first installment. It was more appealing with the major female cast members Bipasha Basu, Katrina Kaif, and Deepika Padukone so the films were perfect to blend glamour and intrigue.
However, the third sequel of the film, set in the year 2018, headed by Salman Khan, did not stand up to the same amount of excitement. Critics felt that the same storyline had lost the freshness and excitement of its predecessors. Also, even with the star power of Salman Khan himself, the movie did not receive a lot of appreciation from the masses, and the reviews of the film were quite mixed. It couldn’t do well at the box office either.
A new hope has been rekindled by the return of Saif Ali Khan with the revival of the franchise. He’s going to bring a breath of fresh air as a silver-screen entertainment, again sporting his charm and talent which first brought him to stardom in the franchise. Of late, Saif has flashed his versatility of acting in the movie “Devara” with Jr NTR and Janhvi Kapoor playing the villain of the series. This made his position as a top figure within the industry even stronger as he has proved his ability to do great work irrespective of the genre.
Taurani also revealed that a director has not yet been finalized. “We haven’t finalized the director either. We will announce the film officially before we go on floors, most likely next year,” he said. While the whole “Race 4” team is up for speculation, the uncertainty is at the highest level about the filmmaker.
The buzz all around “Race 4” is that Saif Ali Khan will return to the franchise, but in the process, they are returning to the basics of the franchise. With the ensemble cast and promising script on the cards, the movie looks to regain the ideology that made the earlier editions a success. All set for a roll into production soon, “Race 4” will prove to be another edge-of-the-seat adventure film, laden with suspense and drama combined with a spice of signature twists that audiences have grown to associate with the “Race” franchise.
