It has already been three months since Zelig Williams, a 28-year-old Broadway dancer from Columbia, South Carolina, was last seen. No result came from the search.
Zelig Williams, who has been complimented for his performances in MJ The Musical and Hamilton, was last seen leaving his mother Kathy Williams’ home on October 3, 2024. His vehicle was found abandoned near Congaree National Park the following day — some 20 miles from Columbia.
Still, nobody has been found despite massive search efforts on the part of family members, the Richland County Sheriff’s Department, and the national volunteer group We Are The Essentials. However, with dense woods along the rivers and streams, many feared that something was amiss in the manner the man was discovered.
Mieoki Corbett-Jacobs, Williams’ cousin and the family spokesperson, was grateful for the support and stated that they believe that there is foul play related to his disappearance. “We believe that there is foul play related to his disappearance,” Corbett-Jacobs stated. She assured that searches would continue in new areas, with updates to follow.
Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott said he cannot rule out foul play but would not make a public announcement on it yet. The worries deepen with reports that Williams could have stopped his prescribed mental health medication at or about the time of his disappearance.
The case now has national attention after actor Hugh Jackman, who had performed with Williams during his 2019 The Man. The Music. The Show. Tour posted a plea on Instagram: “Zelig, we love you and are praying for your safe return.”
Anyone with information is urged to contact the Richland County Sheriff’s Department at (803) 576-3000 or SC Crime Stoppers at 888-CRIME-SC (888-274-6372).
