In honor of the 60th anniversary of the iconic Shelby GT350, Shelby American is releasing its newest GT350 and GT350R Mustangs. The 2025 models mark a return to form for the high-performance brand, blending modern engineering with Carroll Shelby’s legacy of race-ready vehicles.
Unlike previous GT350s produced by Ford Performance, this model is built by Shelby American. It’s powered by a supercharged 5.0-liter Coyote V8 from Ford, delivering 810 horsepower. The naturally aspirated version churns out 480 horsepower. Performance upgrades like the Borla exhaust, lowered suspension, and short-throw shifter on manual models remain the same.
Track enthusiasts, however, have the GT350R that further pushes it to 830 horsepower, with a six-speed manual transmission, and extensive carbon fiber use. More features are incorporated, including a roll cage, adjustable track suspension, and aerodynamic upgrades. With only 36 units available, the GT350R is made for street and track use and is a precursor to Shelby’s upcoming entry in the Trans Am racing series for 2026.
The new GT350 will start at a shade over $109,995, assuming the customer is providing the 2025 Mustang GT as the foundation to build. Shelby American confirmed in May that the run will be equivalent to the original numbers 1965, with 562 units of the GT350 and 36 units of the GT350R planned.
In terms of what can be expected with Shelby American President Gary Patterson said, “The Shelby GT350 and GT350R return for 2025, focused on being high-performance and highly competitive on road and track,” the production schedule kicks in during mid-2025 while exclusive vehicles get sold through only selected Ford dealerships.
