Indian fast bowler Siddarth Kaul has announced that he will retire from international and domestic cricket, bringing his 17-year career to a close. Although 34-year-old Siddarth Kaul will officially retire from Indian cricket, his door is not shut to international careers overseas, such as county cricket in England and other global leagues.

Siddarth Kaul has played six matches for India between 2018 and 2019, all of which were ODIs and T20Is. Even though he did not get many international matches, his domestic success has made him a great player. Kaul was the highest wicket-taker for Punjab in the 2023-24 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy with 16 wickets in 10 matches. He also did well in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, taking 19 wickets in six matches.

He had claimed 297 first-class wickets in 88 matches, 199 in List A cricket, and 182 in T20s. He specialized in death bowling. In the Vijay Hazare Trophy, he took the most wickets by a player for Punjab (155), and in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (120).

Siddarth Kaul was first noticed playing for the winning Virat Kohli-led Under-19 World Cup team in 2008. Nevertheless, his early career has been marred by injuries and significant spells of missing cricket between 2007 and 2012. In his second coming, he has emerged as a reliable performer for Punjab and an asset for the various IPL teams under which he has played Sunrisers Hyderabad, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Royal Challengers Bangalore.

During his retirement, Siddarth Kaul, when asked about it stated that he wanted to go at the peak fitness and performance rather than be requested to step down later on. I still feel cricket is there for 3-4 years and will take this opportunity to move on and play overseas, looking forward to it.”

Retirement closes an outstanding domestic career marked with solidity, resilience, and performance quality that was left behind.
