Popular Twitch streamer Stable Ronaldo also known as Ron, became a victim of an elaborate mock funeral held by FaZe Clan for fellow streamer Lacy’s announcement that Ronaldo is dead after being involved in a car accident. An event, live-streamed through social media, followed this emotional and seemingly serious report from Lacy on Twitter.
On 21 October 2024, Lacy posted a video online in which he appeared visibly distraught and maintained Ronaldo had died in a car accident on his way back home after stopping at 7-Eleven. Lacy tearfully proclaimed, “I woke up today to the devastating news that one of my best friends, Stable Ronaldo, passed away.” Fans, who had gotten used to such a death hoax about Ronaldo, were crying and were still skeptical whether the message was true or not.
The “funeral” did not get long to FaZe Clan, as immediately after Lacy’s announcement, they organized a funny and unforgettable live-streamed event of Ronaldo. FaZe Clan members Banks and Plaqueboymax also joined the service with funny memories about Ronaldo to add humor to the event. During this, a coffin appeared, supposedly containing Ronaldo’s corpse as well, but when the presenter Lacy opened this, it was empty confirming the event to be jovial.
It simply meant Ronaldo was “retiring” from some of the gaming responsibilities rather than retiring from playing. According to the FaZe clan members, the staged funeral was a tongue-in-cheek, celebratory occasion, said one member: “We’re here to say goodbye to Ronaldo’s old ways.” It was his return to Twitch, banned not too long ago, making this one even more special for most of the fans.
The reactions of fans were mixed, with some appreciating the humor while others put thought into Ronaldo’s journey and contributions within FaZe Clan.
