Taylor Swift surprised fans by showing up Monday night at the game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, missing an appearance she had promised for a rally to support Democrat Kamala Harris in Pennsylvania on the eve of Election Day. Her surprise show may generate interest simply because it comes on the heels of her endorsement of Harris for the 2024 presidential election.
Swift, accompanied by her family, was at Arrowhead Stadium sporting a Chiefs bomber jacket. The outing comes after her highly successful U.S. dates of the long-promised Eras Tour and the final show in Indianapolis on Sunday night. Her decision to watch the game instead of headlining Harris’ rally sparked hot debate on social media, with videos of her entering the stadium becoming viral within hours.
Despite some musicians who have appeared publicly during rallies to show solidarity for Harris, such as Lady Gaga, Beyoncรฉ, and Usher, there is no doubt Swift would put on Chiefs gear at a game to prove to take her boyfriend Travis Kelce – Kansas City’s tight end-to heart. She recently gained a regular spot during games cheering with fans and acquaintances like Brittany Mahomes, wife of Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
While Swift publicly endorsed Harris in September, her choice to go to the game suggests a different personal priority among her political endorsements.
