Tesla has started accepting orders in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Chile, and Europe for its refreshed “Juniper” Model Y. The updated version of the electric car-Tesla’s best-selling model launched in China months back, where offered the possibility of significant design and feature upgrades along with performance.

Priced at $59,990, the new Model Y Launch Series is a fully loaded variant that includes Full Self-Driving (Supervised) capabilities and Acceleration Boost. Compared to its predecessor, priced at $47,990, the new model introduces a redesigned exterior, updated headlights and taillights, and acoustic glass treatment for a quieter cabin. Interior enhancements feature an 8-inch rear touchscreen, an upgraded sound system, and power-folding rear seats for added convenience.

Updates for performance involve an extended mileage of 320 miles, slightly over that from the EPA for the older version at 311 miles. Its acceleration was increased, allowing for a faster time of 0-60 mph in just 4.1 seconds rather than 4.8 for the older one. Top speed also dropped down to 125 mph from the original 135 mph. Suspension improved along with the front-facing camera with the new Tesla Autopilot as well as the “Actually Smart Summon”.

Tesla will also sell the older Model Y at a lower price for those in the mood to save while stocks last. The deliveries of the updated Model Y are expected to be unveiled in March 2025.

The Model Y is Tesla’s best-selling EV and even the best-selling car in the world going into 2023. However, it is highly competitive in the ever-changing market of EVs.
